    Hi all,

i have been proposed a redundancy package decent enough that i have accepted!

My concern is: can the payment of this redundancy package be canceled because my employer knows i fount a new job?

my new job would start 10 days after final day of my contract.

i have copies of the contract for redundancy signed on my last day at work which was a while ago.

what you people think? could you help me with your answers?

    regards to all

You lucky bugger, doubt they can cancel the redundancy especially if they proposed it. Keep your mouth shut about your new job until you get the money just in case, but in fairness they hardly expect you to never work again, you just got lucky finding work so quickly.

yes i guess i am but i spent a full month doing interviews...the job i fount required 8 interviews almost 2 month process...

i guess i will try to keep it shut but i still don t know if legally they are obliged to pay what they said

nothing mentioned anyway in this contract of redundancy anyway..

Fair play is all i say, how did you manage to attend 8 interviews without your employer noticing

A redundancy payment is for the loss of your current job, finding another has nothing to do with it.

In fact you are normally entitled to time off for interviews etc. during the last month before being made redundant.

As long as you stay until the end, of course, if you left earlier than the notified date of redundancy then you would loose your entitlement.

Assuming your previous employer has signed the contracts etc.

I expect if your previous employer could withdraw the redundancy offer, he would have to let you keep your existing position!

I was made redundant on a Friday and started the next job on the following Monday!

Don't forget you won't be entitled to redundancy from your new employer until at least two years time, so you have no real job security and probably won't get another decent lump sum again, invest it wisely, you might need it sometime.

Congrats on getting a job in the current market
