    Hey,
Im only in 5th year but right we are doing our Career investigation.
I noticed that there is a BA and a BA International.
What I want to know is do you have to decide when applying through the CAO if you want to do the BA OR BA international.
Or do you decide during the year that you want to study abroad(I think its the third year)

You don't have to pick now. If you decide to go on Erasmus then (providing you pass all your exams over there) you get a BA International. If you don't go on erasmus (or you do but don't pass enough credits) then you get a regular BA.

Usually you have until the 15th of March in your second year of study to chose whether you want to study aboad or not, you study on Erasmus the subsequent year and return to complete your 3rd year in Maynooth afterwards.
So a long time away yet.

Hope I pass all my exams!

    Bmus International here I come!

Should have proably said that I want to do it in Canada or the US.
And as far as I can tell I will be able to get the student matenence grant. Will I also be able to get that while abroad.
Do you have to do it for the full year or can it only be a cupple of months abroad.

And good luck with your exams

Not sure about the grant, but I think you can either go on Erasmus for a half year or a full year. I think you can even opt to do a half year, and then if you like it, stay the rest of the year. A good few exchange students here do that. It's not called Erasmus if you do it in the US or Canada though, it's called something else. And I may be wrong, but I think you have to pay the university fees if you do it in the US/Canada...

Still studying abroad is fantastic. I didn't do a BA international, but I did a summer course abroad after first year and absolutely loved it. Do it if you can I'd say :D

I had only the option of a full year but I'm glad it was so, I dont think you can experience a new culture in just 4 months. Like this semester I went skiing and visited a typical small Czech village for the first time. You really get to see the country in all seasons when you stay for 2 semesters I think.

Yes you do get the maintenance grant, you also get an Erasmus grant which is about 1200.

Good luck in your secondary studies!
