Sky+ & One Cable

I've installed the HD and now moved the sky+ box to the single cable we have in the bedroom.

I read here before about people having problems with only having the one cable in the sky+ box and also someone said you could set the box to know there's only one cable in it.

I've had a look at the menus but can't find this option, can anyone give me some instructions on how to do this?

Also, I have some programmes still recorded on the box that I want to watch, but I can't view them all, some are fine but others pop up saying recording/playback interrupted please wait!?!?

Maybe someone else can verify this....

As far as I know, its only with a HD box that you can set one input cable rather than two thru an option on the menu. You can't do it with a sky+ box.

With the original sky+ box you can use one cable to view sky programmes but you won't be able to record & view at the same time with one cable. (Not sure why the recorded programmes can't be viewed though.)

I had a sky+ box with one cable for a while and I kept losing the signal & I had to keep rebooting the box.

The sky engineer told me I would always have problems with 1 cable on a sky+ box. I got the 2nd cable installed.

you need a sub to view any recorded programs, or to record.

You need to call SKy and tell them you've got a Sky+ box where the standard one was. They'll ask you for the serial number , epg version and viewing card number (They'll talk you through getting it) and switch on the Skyplus bit on your multiroom subscription. I'd the exact same setup a single feed to a Sky+ box it was terribly unreliable I bit the bullet and ran a second cable from the LNB. Recordings will fail even when your not watching/using the box.

I had to do all that just to watch some of the recordings!!

Don't know what to do now!

Callling them to get the Sky + switched on for your multiroom subscription should only take 5 minutes they'll say it could take 4 hours for your box to receive the signal but it's nearly always almost instant. Running the second coax is a pain did you have the HD box installed by a Sky engineer?

Ring them, otherwise you are paying for something you havn't got.

(can you watch the channels you are paying the sub for?)

Sky+ with 1 cable allows recording, rewind, pause etc on the chanel you are watching.
If you try to change channel while recording, the box looks for the second signal and this is where the problems arise. This will mean that setting programmes to record is a waste of time unless you happen to always have the correct sky channel on in advance. It really is hopeless without the second signal.
