Question about Quicktime Pro 7, free with Snow Leopard?

I was in the photography forum asking about doing certain things with photos and someone mentioned I can do them with Quicktime Pro 7 which if I have Snow Leopard may have to be installed from the CD.

It also seems that just having a registration Code may unlock the functionality and upgrade from regular Quicktime 7 - I read this here

Can anyone confirm if Quicktime Pro 7 is free or on the Snow Leopard CD that comes with a new iMac or will I have to purchase it?

I'm still getting to grips with everything mac related, I'm reminding me of my parents with a new computer - I feel that slow on the uptake.

AFAIK Quicktime Pro is included with Apple Pro Applications like Aperture, Logic Pro and Final Cut Pro.

Snow Leopard came with Quicktime X I think which many didn't like but version 7 is on the DVD and can be installed if needed along side X. X has some of the features of Pro included but loses some of the functionality of the standard version 7. I'm not sure it's the Pro version though, this is usually a separate product to standard Quicktime.

This thread here might clarify it.

Can I ask what it is you're trying to achieve with you photos and Quicktime ?

I was told that Quicktime 7 Pro is the best thing to use to make time lapse videos - incorporating thousands of photos at 'xx'frames per second.

Funny I should come across this! Pro is not included on the SL disc, but you can get a code for it from apple. After trying numerous programs, QT Pro is definitely worth the few €'s if you're going to be doing it a good bit.
