    Dear fellow boardsies,

it is a sad day when you realise that the only people you feel comfortable enough to ask a question is on boards, nay on after hours.
I have been invited to a hens party this weekend and I do not want to go but feel I should because well if I dont Ill be that bitch who couldnt be arsed to go to her friends hen party.

    The details:
its a long do, from 3:30 til late, it includes a film, games, cocktails, dinner.
I will be the only very fat girl among a group of well dressed skinny girls and I really really hate being among a group of skinny girls as it makes me feel more sh1t about myself.
I only know two of the girls, one is the bride to be (who lets face it is going to be very busy and proabably wont be able to chat much to me) and one other who is my best friend.
I know of 3 other girls who will be going who i cant stand.
I also have a 4000 word assignment that I could use that day for.
I am an extremely unsocialable person who barely goes out as it is.

The only real reason I can think of to go is that its my friend and I should go.

    So boardsies, what say you?
Should I stay or should I go?

Then you've already got your answer. Do what you want, not what they want; just pretend to be sick.

How hot exactly are these friends? I think we need pictures to fully understand the situation.

OP, I think you should go, unless the three you hate are really nasty.

Sociability is important in life. A lot of adult-hood is turning up for things we are not too enthused about to begin with.

We'll see you back here next week in that thread about your crazy night out.

I'd meet up with the bride-to-be beforehand, have a nice present for her and a good chat and in that chat explain to her how you feel (as above) and that you'd prefer if she gave her friends some other excuse why you will not be there.

It is fine not to be comfortable in social situations. If this kicks you into action and sorting out your stuff that would be great. At any rate, you should stay in your comfort zone, explain to your friend and she'll understand. Indeed, if she suspects that you don't get on with some of her other friends she may be relieved that she doesn't have to worry about you all getting on. Be true to yourself. All the best.

This is really good advice I think.
