I payed €497 in emergency tax last year over about 3 months. by the time revenue finally sorted it out and my employer put it through, revenue said it was past the deadline (which one i'm not sure) and I would have to wait until this year to request and audit (could be wrong on the name) and they would refund me any tax that may be due.

What is the best way to get this back? Its basically savings for a holiday so I haven't been on the ball, but with the work to rule etc I reckon this could take a while so I want to do something now. I hear they're not answering the phones? does anyone know exactly what has to happen so I can just do it without having to get loads of info from them and be sent through loads of hoops?

    Thanks for any info.

get access to your revenue online account and request a P21 balancing statement.
