    Hello Folks,

    I have a 5K race @ 19:00 tomorrow night.

Just wondering what eating tactics you recommend for tomorrow?

I plan to eat my last meal no later than 3pm.
I will start with porridge + honey & coffee for breakfast.

    Thanks

    p.s
Last time out, I had veg soup, wheaten bread & rice at about 1:30pm & 2 jaffa cakes @ about 4:30pm. This did work pretty well.

Stick with what your used to. I run 5 nights a week after work (5-10 miles) and would eat anything after lunch at 2pm.
During marathon training I even did 20 miles after work (starting 6.30pm) with just eating slightly larger lunch than normal. For 5k there really should be no worries, your legs will be carrying enough glycogen naturally.

I would say it is more important to worry about post running nutrition.

You do 5 runs in 5 nites? Min 8km a nite? Thats good going. No rest night then?

OP think you will sound with a banana or something like that. Good luck with it.

I would stick to what you did last time except one difference, cut out the jaffa cakes and sip a specialist carbohydrate drink from 4.30/5 over a 90 min period. This way you are fueling your body with carbs in liquid format which is easy to digest. At the end of the day, jaffa cakes may be one of the healthier biscuits but its still a biscuit with a high suger amount.

Jaffa cakes are a great preface snack. AFAIK they contain 8 grams of carbohydrates per biscuit and are a great little energy booster. They may be a biscuit and have a high sugar content but sugars are carbohydrates. There are different types obviously but those found in Jaffa cakes are ideal pre/post race.
