Heading to Turkey with the GF, in late March from Manchester airport. Flying to Manchester with Ryanair and then we have just 1 hour to check in & get our flight to Turkey with Thomas Cook, are we cutting it fine or is it totally do-able?????????? I know both airlines are located in Terminal 1.

Dunno if there is such a thing as cheap flights but they were reasonable I suppose. The flights to Turkey were on the flythomascook.com website.

Things of note with Thomas Cook, they have high luggage charge like Ryanair! Plus the hand luggage is restricted to 5kgs!! The cheek, trying to outdo Michael O'Leary!!! :D

    cutting it fine alright

yourmother; easyjet fly to istanbuls second airport from gatwick and luton, you can get lots of cheap flights to those airports from ireland. its then about a 45 min bus journey into town, cost is 13 turkish lira (about 6euro)

I found this on the Thomas Cook web-site:

"For Thomas Cook Airlines flights check-in desk closes strictly 60 minutes prior to the scheduled time of departure at each airport, ..."

I've flown to Manchester a few times (Ryanair and Aer Lingus) and it's always a shuttle bus from the plane to Arrivals. So even if you can get off the plane first all that's going to achieve is that you're first onto the bus.

Maybe I'm being naive - isn't Turkish Airlines, flying direct from Dublin, the simplest way to fly to Turkey? I'm going to Bodrum next month and their rates seemed to be competitive and much more convenient than going via Manchester.

Changed the flight to Turkey to a later time in the day, better to wait a few hours than to miss it!!!

Flying to Antalya, so no direct flights from Turkish Airlines, although they do fly direct later in the year.

Very wise decision. Presumably you'd have checked in baggage which would have to be re-claimed which along with the bus journey from the plane would have used up a good 30 minutes I'd have thought.
