Thought I put out the question regarding whatv people find is the best used car for someone with a young family. Trying to stick to Jap cars but mention others( if they exist??)

    Do mileage..
Has plenty of space for buggies, shopping & little ones of course
an advantage wud be 4WD preferably given that we live in the snowy wicklow mountains

    Any advice welcome!!

Currently looking at Honda Crvs..any thoughts??
    Any one rate Nissan Tinos??
Wud people advise staying away from Renault scenics (RX4)

    Thanks in advance!!

What kind of budget do you have? And what mileage are you doing? Diesel/Petrol?(Although that'll probably depend on the mileage!)

Btween 3.5 to 5000 yoyos max to spend...

Between 13k - 15kmiles per annum on hilly terrain

Alanstrainor, How many miles/year u reckon before a switch to diesel?

    01 to 06 Honda Civic, 5dr hatch.
Cheap, plenty to choose from, reliable and very roomy in the back.

    Toyota Estima?

You can also get Jap-import Corolla estates in 4WD too.

You will pick up a Subaru Forester on your budget. 4WD, bomb proof reliability and practical:

rwd isn't a good idea in hilly, icey conditions.
