Looking into a laptop not sure what to get it'll be used for gaming and with a 1gig ATI Mobility Radeon HD5470 Graphics Card.

Anyone have advice about the cpu and the grahpics card?

If gaming is a priority, you should save money on the processor and spend your money on the graphics card instead.

A Core i5-430M would be better than most Core2Duos (except for the very high-end likely), but either would be fine for gaming. Basically any decent dual core will do for games on an average laptop, because at that level it'll be the GPU holding you back.

ATI 5470 would be a little bit below mid-range as far as laptop graphics cards go nowadays. It'll play games, especially older ones, but with any modern or demanding games you'll have to play at very reduced settings.

The I5 mentioned would be better than most if not all core 2's out there, i saw a benchmark against a T9800 core 2 and it outperformed it. But if it's gaming your after, your money would be better spent on a graphics card tbh, and the one mentioned above wouldn't strike me as a good gaming card, i doubt it'd play new releases at a decent framerate.
