    Hi,

I'm going to be in Ireland next month and was wondering if it was worth picking up some kit while I'm over there. I'm based overseas and generally rely on the internet to get stuff from the states but wanted to know how Ireland compared price wise?

Specifically I'm looking for a new Giro helmet (ProLight) and also maybe the new Sky kit. Could anyone recommend somewhere in Dublin that might have them?

    Thanks,
    Damian

Damo - you could have waited for me to reply from facebook.

You would look like a prat in sky gear and a Dogma.

Where are you now? Ireland is in general more expensive than just about anywhere else on the planet.

    Hello -

A lot of the stuff I purchase (95%) I buy online from the UK or eBay from the US.

    chainreactioncycles.com
    wiggle.co.uk
    probikekit.co.uk
    ebay ...

Having said that, there are lots of little shops around town that have good deals, you just have to shop around to find them.

Helmets are definitely cheaper in the UK (as they do not have any VAT, whereas in Ireland they do). Watch out with Wiggle though, as they do have to charge Irish VAT when delivering into Ireland

Hey Damo, it's Dagsy here, if you haven't guessed already. I was going to suggest you to a) take a look at the boards.ie cycling forum but you've already found your way here so welcome and b) if you haven't already you can take a look at cyclesuperstore or wheelworx for price comparisons.

@Tunney - Ah you took too long Dave! You're right though, I'll only wear it on my Trek :-P
@Blorg - Thanks. Suspected that, was hoping that something good might have come out of the recession. I guess not.
@Caroline & Beasty - Cheers for the info. Will take a look at stuff on UK websites.
@CH - Hey John. Saw cyclesuperstore's website but it's all the way out in Tallagh. Prob easier to get to London. Will take a look at wheelworx
