    Hello,

Supposing I set up a business named (for example) Bean Ltd, the primary business being the sale of baked beans online on beans.ie

Now supposing I change my mind on the name of the website but the primary business remains much the same. Could I register the business name (for example) superbeans.ie and have this owned by Bean Ltd.

Or would I need to change the name of the company, bank accounts etc?

I'm guessing its ok to say Beans Ltd trading as Superbeans.ie on the website etc and have the name Superbeans.ie registered to Bean Ltd with the CRO?

Someone might clarify for me how this works.

    Thanks

PS, Please don't steal my idea:)

Bean sales are up - recessionary times and all that.

Not 100% but you can have a company and more than one trading/business name. You could also have I assume more than one trading name associated with your registered ltd bank account.

I should of said that it may be preferable for you as an individual to own the domain names and not your company.

Yes I have several trading as names for my limited company used for various web applications I've developed.

    Thanks for the reply(s)

What would be the advantage of me holding the domains as an individual?
Surely if anyone was going to buy out Bean Ltd from me they'd want the domains also?

I'll check with the bank about the names perhaps.
    Thanks

    Thanks.

And how does it work with the bank, any need for separate accounts?

No, generally speaking payments are to "My company Ltd. T\A My trading as" which the bank can take directly but you can also send them the details of the trading as and they will generally accept payments under that name

    Thank for that.

So it seems as though it'll be fine if I register the second name (registering the name under the Ltd company), inform the bank, ask their permission to accept payments under this name.

Do I need to do anything else?

Would agree with you on this point of the websites. If anyone was going to buy the websites, it would be more attractive if the website was part of the package when someone buys the shares of the company...........

This is your decision but you can get advantages from owning your domains privately.

If someone was ever to buy the company you can always sell the domains to the company at this time for a profit.

However when starting out what advantage do you get from having the ltd owning all your domain names?

I would always own the domains personally. Just my preference and long term it can/could have positive monetary implications.
