Capital Gains on house and single parent credit

    Hi All
I bought a house in 04 with my partner at the time. I was made redundant in Dec 08 and my partner got a new job so we moved to the other side of the country... Unforntunately things did not work out so we went our seperate ways but we are on a friendly enough basis.
Basically I am wondering if we sell the house hopefully in the next couple of years will we have to pay capital gains as we moved for work purposes (i read online about a rule where you could move for 4 years within Eire for work purposed and the house would be deemed occupied by you for capital gains purposes) ?
I am back with family and he rents with friends he want to claim single parent credit for his daughter(she is not mine) -he has her from Fridays to Sundays. I am worried if he claims this when we try to sell the house they will say we left the house because we broke up and not because of work and we will be forced to pay the capital gains.
Sorry for the complicated story-Any help with this would be greatly appreciated. thanks
