as a big Amanda Palmer fan, i was surprised this whole Palmer/Webley project didn't pop up on my radar sooner than last week.

anyone else going to this show at the Academy on april 19th?
should be interesting. I haven't really checked out the evelyn evelyn stuff itself, just hearing that Amanda will be doing a short set of her own first was enough to sell it. Her shows are always awesome!

The Evelyn Evelyn project has been linked off her site for a while, the myspace and other hints have been dropped on and off for the last 4 months but it only made a big splash when there was a fuss made by a few people and then some of NG fans heard about it and seemed unaware of the avaunt gard nature of her work and it seems he
has over the years gone from comic book hack to respected author.

That I did find amusing it that it was approximately a year from when the fuss kicked off over the song "Oasis", art should provoke and make us think imho.

Evelyn Evelyn are listed as playing The Academy on the 19th of April should be a wonderful gig.

ha i love that song/video. and how some people seem to find it obscene, while many other pop videos are full of sexist imagery.ridic!
a friend mentioned the Evelyn Evelyn gig to me last week and when I looked it up I was just bombarded with all the ableism controversy.
but yeah, i'm really looking forward to it!!

I most probably am (haven't brought the tickets yet)... I'm so excited!!! I listened to the 3 Evelyn Evelyn songs they've put on their MySpace and they're alright, not mind-blowingly great or anything, but still can't wait for the 19th of April! Do you think she'll play some of her Dresden Dolls songs as well though?

i'm not sure if she'll do any dresden dolls songs, but she is supposedly doing a short solo set beforehand [and so id webley] so there might be one in there!

well looks like it's going to be an Amanda Palmer solo gig, as nobody else can make the show because of the volcano.

can't say i'm too disappointed, more piano this way i imagine!!

Been following this in Twitter over the last few days and I reckon there may be some kind of Skype jiggery pokery involved for at least some of the set.

Either way, I got my copy of the Evelyn Evelyn album there yesterday and it's superb. Got my tickets as soon as it was announced since the last 2 AFP gigs I made in Dublin were mindblowing.

i've never seen her in dublin before, the last couple times she played i was in toronto, but i caught her twice there.
i'm the same, bought my ticket as soon as i heard about it, but only actually listened to the record a few days ago. i quite enjoyed it as a concept, in that i found it entertaining to listen through, and i do like the majority of the music tracks, but overall i'm not too sold on this evelyn evelyn deal... it reminds me too much of vermillion lies, who she toured with toronto. i'd just rather see an amanda palmer show i suppose.

i must keep an eye on her twitter page tomorrow - i'm not much of a twitter person but seeing as she's known to announce last minute public shows via twitter it could pay off.

    really looking forward to it!

hmmmm... never really thought of it but maybe a bit. I like Vermillion Lies in a way, but their music tends to be way too folksy for my taste. I probably wouldn't have liked the whole Evelyn Evelyn thing very much either if I wasn't so madly in love with anything Amanda Palmer :o

have had tickets for this for months but due to college I have to give it a miss, my girlfriend is bringing her friend in place of me but I have to say that I'm really disappointed.
