ok, my car is lowered on adjustable coilovers. I have the tracking and camber all nicely set and my NCT is in june.

Will i have to raise the height of my car (and thus knock tracking/camber out) before the NCT or do they take it easy with a lowered car, ie. try not to tear the bumper off it?

How have you're lowered cars gone through the NCT, any horror stories?

They car has to be able to clear the ramps etc for the machines they use, if it doesn't its a fail as they cant test it.

Depends on who you get as a tester too some will take care with the car, some wont, if it gets damaged because it was too low I dont think you have any come back

Only cars that are stupidly low and cant get on the equipment have issues.

I want my next car to be stupidly low :D

Better make sure it has a new NCT :P

Anyone put their car through one with lowered springs? If so did they say anything? How low was it? :P

My car tested without issue - lowered but just cleared their ramps....Most operators are not particularly careful nor are they abusive either.

Lowering springs are a bad way to do it. The lower you go with a spring the worse it gets.

Plus depending on the car the camber may not be adjustable. So you end up with stressed dampers and poor tyre contact = crap handling

Coilovers all the way if you can,if not just hold out longer and save up for a set.

    Again this is car dependent.

Coilover spring and dampening rates may be too severe for irish roads. I used to have get lower back pain as a result of running coilovers on long journeys. (Spring rates were just too severe ) I replaced them with a softer coil-over set-up before i became an inch shorter.

Adjustable Camber arms, toe arms , may be required to correct tracking depending on the car again.

The best thing to do is do your research and set the car up for your needs.

If your looking for a rough guide to to suspension set-up try whitelines recommended settings they are usually a good base

My mini front bumper was less than an inch off the ground. Could barely clear ramps yet alone get into the NCT centre. I changed the bumper and put normal chrome one on it (in fact I took off the whole Zeemax kit) and they had no problems testing it. Only issue is the fact my rear suspension was worn and my CV joint was gone, so they gave it a good walloping off the rollers.

Old car + NCT = hurtful to the eyes and soul!
