Using my tv as a monitor

Hey just wondering if anyone can help. Basically my laptop is hooked up to my tv so it displays as a second monitor. So what I have on my laptop screen is the EXACT same thing as I have on my tv.

But today when I pluged in the laptop to the tv its acting as an extension to my laptop screen so say I might have a window open on my tv and I have to drag the mouse all the way across to find the window on the tv screen.

Not sure if I made that sound clear but all I want is my tv and laptop to be identical in what they are showing me. Dont know how it changed on its own but its really annoying me now!

    What operating system?
If it's Vista, right click on your desktop > personalise > display settings. Select the TV and uncheck "Extend my desktop to this monitor" (or something like that. It's been a while).

Fixed it. I actually found windows "help" to be helpful for once!
