Just went back to my original thread looking for advice on a first-time sniper rifle (btw, not interested in skirmish at all - sorry I wasn't clear about this in my original thread), but its been closed so I just want to thank everybody for their input, I got an ASG AW.308 today with scope. After cleaning the barrel with some oil its firing well. The only thing I'm not overjoyed about is the magazine loading mechanism - every now and then it jams and it takes a bit of fiddling to get it out?

Hope you used silicone oil or it may effect the hop rubber and seals in the mech :)

You should proubley run to you local hardware store and pick up a can of silicone oil. Dont use WD-40 or any other oil! I wouldnt say you done any harm, but i wouldn't do it again ;)

    OH NOES!!!!
Nah, it shouldn't have done much, just give it a good clean and get some silicone oil, the 3 in 1 stuff is great.

I would'nt mind, I have a can of 3in1 but I thought the machine oil would be better. BTW, anybody had simillar problems with the magazine sticking?

No not sticking, sometimes reload to quick and catch the BB just before it gets into the barrel..bit annoying

Make sure its 3-1 silicone oil the regular stuff will damage the hopup rubber.

Also try not to get Silicone oil in the hop up rubber. :)

Sounds like grit in the mag, a new gun rarely jams because of oil, just load it up, and empty it a few times, less oil attracts less dust etc. so be wary of that.

Less oil is really your friend with regards hops and barrels and mags.

Instead of oil, your best bet is 100% silicone spray... it provides the right volume of silicone oil in application without being too thick. If it, ( and it will) get on the hop rubber, a few rounds down the pipe will clear things out, it happens, and isnt a big deal, it will effect consistency of shots for a few rounds, but then return to normal.

Oil on its own, however, has a tendancy to sit and not get where needed.

    Enjoy the gun.
