This may be a silly question, but i was wondering in the case of celebritys like katie price and peter andre, when the couple have split but both parents still play an active roll in the childrens lifes is it possible that the parents new partners can adopt the children??

The rules in this respect differ from jurisdiction to jurisdiction- under Irish law- the child may not be adopted, fullstop. Under UK law- if the father signs away his parental rights, the child may be adopted. German and US rules differ on a state by state basis........ Its a bit of a minefield- if you had a specific question about a specifici jurisdiction- we could look into it for you.
