I think my club just passes it on at cost... there would be other considerations I would put above this when choosing a cycling club TBH.

Jeez Blorg, it's the very first rule:

    1. Image and style shall be your primary concern.

There's not a lot of Euro going on in Dublin club kits I'm afraid.

This is a fair point, if you are good enough to race with a sponsored club then it is a different matter. But then again, chosing that based on which gives you the best jersey discount doesn't seem to make a lot of sense.

Now if it was a bicycle discount...

@ Blorg, Speaking of which - have you any idea when Orwell gear order is coming in ? I didn't get around to ordering any, so I'm hoping to grab some of the "spares" when they get here.

April, apparently. Be quick as well, not too many extras were ordered as they are considering new kit for next season and didn't want huge unsold surplus. I'm in the same boat as you, could be a bit of a scramble! Go in and talk to them, they'll take your name, desired order and number and promise to contact you when the stuff is in.

its gonna be tough for anyone to stick to the euro PRO rules with irish club kit !!! hahaha.....

its tough for clubs to desighn kit to please everyone too i know that !!
i ve been involved in the process in a few clubs.

plus you have nt got loads of sponsors to plaster on jerseys and shorts to make it look PRO with good colours too!!!

some of the stuff out there at the minute is horrific....

on topic: most clubs will do the gear as close to cost as possible ... or should do!!

Isn't the Orwell gear heavily subsidised or free? Is that why they are getting so many members?

The Swords gear is bright and colourful - very road safe!

They're certainly not giving it out free to me!

No, it is passed on at cost AFAIK. As for the membership, I guess it is a nice club with a reasonably large catchment area. Very friendly guys (and girls.) I found them very supportive of me starting racing and there is a very good club league with Lucan, Tiernans, Usher and UCD. These would be bigger factors when choosing a club than how cheap the jersey is!
