Fax over Internet

    Hey all,

I need to send a fax (why in this day and age you can't email some places is beyond me) and unfortunately I don't happen to have a fax machine in my house, so I did a quick search and it seems it should be possible to use Windows 7's own Fax software and the Internet.

The problem is that there seems to be a million and one companies offering to do this so has anyone here used any apps that will let you do this in Ireland, or recommendations on what's good?

    Cheers!

FOIP has been around for years in some form, quite like this article. It details some options for you.

In relation to faxing through Skype, it's a non-runner.

You could try www.myfax.co.uk . They offer a free trial and Dublin based numbers.

blueface.ie are an Irish company and have a great voip service that includes fax services. We use them here in the shop with a few linksys spa-200 ATAs and they work a treat, can't tell the difference from a copper line.

    I've used efax before.

You get a fax number, people send faxes to this number and they come to you via email.

You can send faxes on the website or as an attachment to an email which you send to a specific address.

30-day free trial. No limitations during the trial.

AIB actually - though I'm not sure if they qualify as "private sector" anymore :D I did ask if I could email it, but she suggested snail mail instead!

I'll send it for you (if you want to email it to me in PDF) if it's only a page or two if you like. :)
