Tel Aviv currency

    Hi all

    Heading here in a few weeks, and am just wondering if they accept US dollars? I know the proper currency is new shekels, but it seems everything I've booked so far has been taken is USD (hotel, tours)

    Anyone have any ideas if I can pay in cash with dollars over there?

    Was there 10/11 years ago and dollars were widely accepted. Not sure what it's like now.

    used to stay in tel aviv on weekends. best place to change dollars to NIS was along the beach. many unoffical changers doing business. very good rates but just be carefull. rates were usually 10% better than the nearby burea de change.
    banks were next best. stay away from hotel exchange - really bad.
