    hi,
I contacted Veritas to get a Papal blessing parchment. i have to say i am disgusted that it costs €57 for the standard doc, and also that it will take 9-12 weeks approx to arrive. this means it wont be in time for our big day.
My question is, is it a requirement? my thought is that is a nice to have and not important what so ever. Would people agree?

Nope, not a requirement, I'm getting married in a few weeks and no mention from anyone (priest included) about a blessing. And yes, I would agree, nice to have but not important what so ever.

From what I gather its just another Church Tax, but this one you can skip

you can get one as they are nice little mementos.

The priest will know the wording and if you simply hand him a rolled up sheet of paper, he will 'read' the blessing from the altar and no one will know that it is not from a genuine document.

There is no compulsion to have one, the blessing is of course free. What you are paying for is the decorated parchment.
