Level 7 fees....? Back to Education Allowance

So...I found out yesterday, that those who hope to back to college with the "Back to Education Allowance" will no longer be able to receive a maintenance grant. Not only is there a dead end in the employment sector of Ireland, but now, the government have put a big huge brick wall in front of those of us who want to get some sort of qualification.

That said, we need to just keep positive and do whatever we can to get a decent future. So, my question is, whether anyone knows what are the cost of registration fees for level 6/7 courses, I'm hoping since there not honours degrees, the cost of registration may not be as high as the €1500 that some colleges are asking.

Maybe I can get by on my back to education allowance IF the fees aren't as high.
I'd really appreciate if anybody had any info on this!smile.gif
    Thanks!!

Registration fees are still paid for you by the state.

Most university degrees are level 7/8 depending on your results. You get a level 7 for a pass, level 8 for second class honours or higher.

So my registration would be paid for, I just wouldn't get any sort of grant?

The course I'm talking about is Level 6, and it lasts 2 years, in DIT.

I was under the impression that as long as you were on the BTEA your fees were paid for you by your local vec! well once you apply to them. but you dont get the maintance grant. and as far as i know all reg fees are €1500, as of a result of the previous budget to last.
You might want to check this further there was a lot of talk on here a while back about this whole thing a quick search should bring up some links to actual information. unless stark can clear it up a little more.
