Over the last month or so i have been watching some of the Modern Warfare 2 commentators on Youtube and am blown away by how ****ing brazen these lads are!

Some of them have links to a Paypal account where they ask for donations!

Donations for what, playing a computer game?

In the imortal words of James 'Jimmy' Conway "What's the world coming to?"

Good idea, upload video of yourself ask people for money.

Its up to the individual if they want to donate or not, but TBH if you do, why would you?

Has this persons playing of the game warranted a cash reward? If certain people donate thats there own choice but I just dont understand why you would IMO.

If they're providing a service for people and people are feeling helped by it I dont see the problem.

The main word there is 'Donation'

I won't be asking for money by the way :)

You know I was thinking about the sad factor the other day.

But then I realised that as I am ranked about 2million, that means there are 2 million MW2 players who are sadder than me. 2 million ppl I'm winning at in life. Then I was happy:D

I don't fully agree with you there. The only person I came across who did this was Hutch.

He's made hundreds of videos for YouTube. In one of them he mentioned that maybe people might like to donate, and he left his PayPal details. People donated $1. He got a reasonable bit of money. It probably went back into his making of videos with a PC upgrade etc. So he was giving back to the subscribers.

In cases like this, I wouldn't criticise people for giving $1. (I probably wouldn't do it myself though.)

People get 10 minutes of decent entertainment out of his videos, not to mention possible tips or strategy. (You pay €10 for a 100 minute movie, so works out about the same ratio).

And he has a serious following. More than 125,000 people have subscribed to him (U2 only have just over 105,000). Total views of his videos are around 9.25 Million! He is #80 most viewed globally today on Youtube. Those are savage numbers. Just from uploading Modern Warfare 2 videos.

You don't get that popular if you are just a money grabbing chancer.

I'm aware that others might just be chancers, so maybe he's the exception. But I can only go by the couple of channels I follow, and he's the only one who did this.

Thats proof games are bigger than music. (And definitely better in U2's case :pac:)

whatever floats peoples boats, but giving money regardless of the amount to a guy uploading video's isn't my cup of tea
