Hi all strange thing has started happening with my Golf when you switch on the car lights the lights on the drivers door (for windows door lock petrol flap opener) are not coming on for another bit 5-10 seconds. Am going to ring dealer tomorrow but has anyone an idea as to what may be wrong.

Also another thing while checking the oil yesterday I noticed that the coolant level in the Expansion tank was a good three centimetres above the max mark the only people that have put fluid in there have been the dealers should I be worried about this?

Thanks again for any and all help:)

If the engine was hot when you checked the coolant level then it could be normal. The max/min levels are for a cold engine.

It's possible that it was overfilled. The cap has pressure relief function so it will vent any excess pressure. You could always use an absorbent cloth to soak up the excess. Only remove the cap when the engine is cold.

I'll have to bring it to the dealer to get the door lighting issue looked at so they can resolve that issue then as well.

    Thanks again for your help.

Having the coolant a few cm over the mark is nothing to even think about not to ming being conncerned!

Max is max for a reason. Overfilling the cooling system can result in excessive pressure. If for any reason the pressure relief function of the cap fails then the rest of the system could be subject to excessive pressure which may result in a leak.

3cm in a reservoir that is approx 15cm is a large discrepancy.
