Starbucks Coffee Grounds

Has anyone used Starbucks coffee grounds in their garden?

Do you compost them or spread them on your soil?

    Are they any good?

I saw that you could take them for free but I was wondering what was the best thing to do with them.

I think coffee grounds are acidic and are used when more acidity in the soil is needed. So you'd probably need to check if your soil is already acidic enough (maybe through testing, checking with local gardener or gardening centre or online?)

But I know some plants prefer more acidic soil such as blueberries (I think..) so even if your soil's pH is balanced, you could still use the coffee grounds for this.

Thanks for letting me know they give them away for free - might pick some up!

Thanks for the replies. I think I will go ahead and compost rather then adding to the soil. I'll let you know how i get on! ;)
