Transporting a car...

Well, I purchased a Escort Mk3 as a resto project today (full details can be viewed here). Anyway, long story short, I need to move the car, which is just outside of Fermoy in Cork, to Westmeath (to near the town of Finea on the Cavan border). Does anyone know any companies that could transport the car at a reasonable price? Thanks.

That is going to be expensive, if you have a vehicle that can legally tow a trailer it might be worth your while buying a cheap car transporter and doing the job yourself.
A good investment for someone whose into restoration projects.

A Mk3 Escort is a light car, and could go on a trailer like this

So you could possibly rent a trailers like that and tow it with a suitable tow vehicle. If you have a B licence you'll have to pay close attention to the weights to be legal. The towcar would probably have to have a kerb weight of between 1450 and 1650 kg.

Could also look into renting a beavertail Transit. With a car licence you'll be limited to 3500 kg total but seeing as the Escort is light, you might be OK. Something like this

Thanks for the suggestions, but I'm very tight on money at the moment. My friend has a towing A-frame, so that might just do.

You may get nicked along the way from what am aware, tow ropes & A-frames are only to be used to tow a broken down car to a safe place for repair or to await proper transportation to take it to a place of safety.

Also you have to check with your insurance, you may not be covered to use one.

If its driving NVD would charge about €100 to transport it.

Could the AA tow it home for you under a rescue ? ;)

It's driving, well, it's currently running on 3 cylinders, and the rocker cover gasket is pissing oil everywhere.

Hence the restoration project part! :D
