    Hi folks,

I want to head abroad to look for work during the summer, for about 8 weeks. I can stay with family while abroad but just wondering what will happen my JSB over here. Im aware i can apply for 2 weeks holidays but that wont be enough. I need to still pay bills over here while im abroad.

If i cant get this then i cant afford to go and try find work elsewhere.

Also, if i did go with my JSB cut off, when i come back would i have to make a fresh claim and then wait a number of weeks to start receiving it again?

You cant really claim jobseekers if your not available for work.

Providing you have enough stamps left prior to your departure, and you are seeking employment abroad, you could be eligible to transfer your unemployment benefit to any eu country for a maximum of 78 days (excluding sundays) - 13 weeks.

You'd have to apply at your local social welfare office for an E303 form. This would be posted to your new address in whatever country you are going to. You would then have to take these forms to the social welfare office abroad and they would have to sort your Irish benefit from there.

Thanks for that information, so from that i assume the same would not apply to non-EU countries? USA for example?
