Hi,This probably should be located somewhere else?? Sorry Mods.Im goin to the Heineken Cup final in Paris this year and just wondering what would be the best/cheapest way to travel. I ve checked flights and they seem to be very expensive directly into Paris.Any advice would be great. Thanks

Ryanair to London, then Eurostar from St Pancras to Paris could be an option if all else fails.

Also, the TGV has good links from other French cities - so you could fly elsewhere, or even to Brussels and get the train onwards.

Swiss do flights from dub to paris via zurich that can be reasonable enough.

Booked flights recently through KLM ... direct to Paris for about 250.

I'm half thinking of going as the match is on the day I turn 30, Paris for the weekend and the possibility of seeing Munster win their 3rd European Cup (or Leinster doing the back to back for their 2nd, to a lesser extent).

Must look into it and check the funds.

I did this for the 6N match - €198 return. Would fly that way again.

The chocolate they give on the flight is worth it alone!

Cheers for all the responsesI had a look on line and found that its prob cheaper to go to zurich and
then Paris.I ve listed below the prices involved incase anyone is thinking of
goin over. All Dublin to Paris. Only Ryanair/ KLM/ Aer Lingus and airfrance
are direct.the rest are 1 stop in Zurich or copenhagen before you get to
    Paris.
    All prices per person
    www.edreams.ie <http://www.edreams.ie> EUR242
    www.lastminute.ie <http://www.lastminute.ie> EUR244
    www.expedia.ie <http://www.expedia.ie> EUR252
    www.bravofly.com <http://www.bravofly.com>EUR286
    www.ebookers.ie <http://www.ebookers.ie> EUR294
    www.alpharooms.co.uk <http://www.alpharooms.co.uk>EUR308
    www.ryanair.ie <http://www.ryanair.ie> EUR323
    www.klm.com EUR333
    www.airfrance.com EUR397
    www.aerlingus.com EUR445

I also priced Dublin to London Stansted and then get the eurostar to
Paris. This works out EUR330 per personAgain thanks for all the useful
information. Even tho its a tough draw it could be Munster Leinster final

Thanks for all the research. You have confirmed my fears that I dont think I will be able to afford the bloody flights/transport over despite having purchased my tickets in June 09!!

I would love to be able to pay for the transport for my boyfriend for his birthday, but I just cannot afford to pay for both of our flights. The cheapest I can get today is on edreams flying with Airfrance for €286 per person return. I know this is probably good enough value but I cannot afford over €500 for both!!

Any body know of any alternative ways i.e by rail or something?

If all else fails I may have to sell my tickets. Anybody know of anyone who might be interested?!! :) (im not DEFINATELY selling at this stage, just putting it out there!)

Fly to Frankfurt Hahn with Ryanair; bus to Luxembourg and then a TGV into Paris. Might be able to do it for less than €200. Maybe Eurolines the Bus Eireann international arm might be worth checking too. I know mates of mine went to Cardiff in 08 for 50ish pp

Thanks everyone for the responses. I think we are just going to leave it. It would have been a great trip but we only bought the tickets at the time as we thought we might get away cheaply. This wont be the case now, and not being from Munster or Leinster there isnt really any point in us spending a fortune going. So alas we will be selling.

Hopefully we will get to go on a week long holiday instead!

Waiting until we get tickets in hand from promoter before deciding on price.

Selling tickets at above cost price is touting and not something I'd be shouting about

    Ok, fair enough.

But who hasnt had this done to them? Its just a fact of life. My boyfriend has gone to loads of games and bought tickets off touts outside games. Sure, its not legal but the early bird catches the worm and if someone wants to go to a game badly enough.... And besides we didnt buy in bulk to make a profit like many others do, we just cant go ourselves. If a friend wants the tickets we would be happy to give it to them.

But i have rephrased my post.

    Thanks

Fly to Carcassonne (80 euros return with Ryanair) on the Friday and TGV it up to Paris?
Train might be about 200 euros though, this close to the date :(

Better yet, fly Dublin-Tours with Ryanair for 40 euros return and train from there to Paris is about 60 bucks.

we got flights to amsterdam with aerfinglas then train to paris, worked out about 220ish each.

we found that unless you could head over a few days before and stay a few days after most of the flight prices were fairly inflated.

Dublin to Tours with Ryanair for €40, Thursday to Monday.

Train will cost you £32.50 http://www.raileurope.co.uk/, possibly less if booked through the French railway site.

That was for train travel to Paris on Thursday, and back to Tours on Sunday evening because your flight would be early Monday morning.

edit: beaten to it I see.

Tours is also a very nice town if you were to stay for a night

in particular if you are into a bit of scenery or driving around...its n the Loire valley with lots of chateaux etc
