Large felt sheets?

    Hi All,

I hope you can help me. This isn't exactly for an art project, but I am placing a dart board up on my wall at home and am thinking of protection for the wall behind.

My plan is to get a large 2 square meters of chipboard to cover the "playing area" and surrounding area which may be damaged by accident. However, I would like to cover the unsightly chipboard with something like felt to give it a cleaner appearance.

Every piece of felt I have come across seems to be in A4 size. However, as mentioned above, I would require something about 2 meters X 2 meters.

Any ideas where I could get something like that, or any suggestions of something else I could use instead of felt that may be easy on the eyes?

    Thank you for your help!

Chipboard will be very heavy to hang on the wall, as well, the widest you will get is 4ft. Not sure if you want 2 sq metres or 2 metres square, but a 4ft x 8ft sheet should be plenty. I suggest you get a sheet of thinnish ply and a sheet of softboard, glue them together with the softboard to the front, and cover with either felt or curtain fabric. It would be easier on the darts too. You can buy felt by the yard, but a couple of metres of a cheap, plain thickish fabric would do just as well. Try Michael Guineys, or if you want a cheap job, find a long curtain in a charity shop. Make sure you fix the dart board through the ply, and use some sort of washers on the front of the softboard or the screws will just go right through.

Excellent ideas! Thank you very much indeed! I wouldn't have considered the softboard and the curtain fabric. Genius. Thank you again :)
