Is it too late to apply to GTTR?

    Hi all,

I have applied for a place on the PGDE courses offered by the NUI colleges and am counting down the days until the offers come out at the start of April.

I have a 2:1 honours Science degree and 750 hours + teaching practice and am really hoping this will be enough to secure me a Biology teaching place HOWEVER as time ticks by, I'm getting jittery about the extra numbers of applicants applying this year for college places.

Basically, I'm wondering if I should also apply to to the UK also rather than leave all my eggs in the NUI basket.

Is it too late to do so? Will all the "good" courses be filled up by this late stage? Should I have enough points for NUI acceptance?

    All advice is greatly welcomed,
    Yours anxiously ,
    BB

Sounds to me like you have a lot of points. You have what, at least 48 points? That's a lot. But I guess you have no way of knowing what will happen to the points this year. If you don't get in, would you be happy to work/study for another year? or prefer to go to UK? I think you've a lot of points, but I suppose preparing for the worst case scenario is the best thing to do to avoid disappointment.

Technically, it's not too late to apply, but you will find that many courses are full at this stage. Even the courses that still have vacancies may be winding their interviews up soon. Because of this, I'd recommend calling any university you're putting on your choice list before you submit, to ask whether your application will be considered.

However, you may well get into NUI. That amount of hours is bound to look good!

I applied to the GTTR in December, as well as TCD. I wanted to keep my options open too!
