Having been at the Garda auction before (generally crap quality some serious auction frenzy) I don't know if this is a good recommendation.
There may be a hidden gem there for somebody.

Garda auction? I'd give ten pounds for one. How long do I get to keep him? I'd put him out the back garden to keep the grass down. What do they eat?

I got a motorbike off them for £10 about 10-12 years ago. Just went to the station and made and offer. Once they get 3 offers they pick the dearest and sell it. Obviously they cant just sell you anything. Bike I got didnt go for long but it was only a tenner.
Be interesting to see whats at this yoke.

A friend of mine was looking for a cheap bike recently so dragged me along to have a look at the bikes at their last auction. We went to view the bikes the day before and saw a nice Specialized Sirrus 2008, had been well used but was in good nick, pretty much everything else was crap (50 quid mtbs' and kids bikes). Came back for the auction and the bike never made it to auction, very dubious.

i went to one of these and there was a few decent bikes.one or two that were 100% new. i picked up a bike for €50 and sold it a week later for €100.
hope i can make this cause there might be a few nice racing frames tthat would do for conversions

Damn, I got told about this yesterday and being selfish I was hoping it wouldn't get mentioned, sob, now I have to compete with people.

That said does anyone know if it's anything like the garda auctions, can we head early and scope out hidden gems (great parts on sh*t bikes, decent frames with sub standard parts etc...).

My knowledge of the Gardaí auctions is that any decent complete bikes usually go for their as new price or far more than they're worth.

Generally they are full of absolute shíte with a few decent bikes that go expensively... in my limited experience, my first and last one was in 1993 but that lot list seems to suggest little has changed.

The sprinkling of Giants and Treks MAY be half decent bikes, very possibly not maintained well mind. Some of the other "racers" may be old ones where the frame would be of interest for those looking to do a restoration/fixie conversion etc.

How much are the bikes selling for roughly?
