Reminds me of the old survivalist thing back in the days of Ronnie Regan....you were meant to have silver, gold and Jewels in your shelter to trade after the disaster as the US would be a wild wasteland and the dollar useless..presumably you'd be trading with mohawked cannibal gangs for slave girls...or maybe food..it was hard to tell what some people were hoping for there, really......

Just another politician grandstanding and wanting attention. If he would spend his time looking for viable solutions to the economic crisis, rather than this legislative circus act, then maybe not as many voters will complain when the SC legislature discovers bipartisan cooperation just long enough to vote themselves a pay raise?

Does that mean that they will no longer be requiring Federal monies for roads and such?

Yeah I remember hearing that too (although later than the Reagan ete)

Seeing as gold has more inherent value and the Federal Reserve currency would be useless.
