    1. I am wondering how to connect this to my computer to update the software. Is there a cable that goes from usb to com? Has anybody updated there software? Is it worth buying a cable to do an upgrade?

    2. Also, have two receivers coming from one dish. One receiver doesn't pick up all the channels the other one does. Have even tried inputting the data coming up on one to the other (VPID, APID, PPID and the Transponder and symbol rate) the frequency I am looking for is not available in the transponder options. Not too sure what much of this means really as just started messing around with it this evening!

The Technomate 1000d is a few years old now but is still a great little FTA box in my opinion. By upgrading the software, it adds new transponders to the search facility so that it picks up channels that it may not find originally.

It also fixes some problems that might have occured since it left the factory. You can get a com to usb cable for newer machines in maplins, seen them a couple of times for around €15 euro.

You can also download patched software for these boxes which may open some foreign channels depending on what satellite you are looking at but we cannot talk about it here...

You need a null modem cable and a download ( firmware ) from satpimps,

    the firmware contains a loader

Thanks for the help lads, just started to do a bit of research into the box after having it for a few years! Didn't no anything about it before yesterday really! My old PC has a com port so I can use that, and a friend said he should have an old mull modem cable lying around so I might aswell give it a shot!

(although having glanced at the satpimps site i think I've to do a bit more research to see what I need :) - lot on it!)
