does anyone know when vodafone are going to launch the iphone? I am already with them and need to replace my phone soon. They are very vague when it will be out and what contract they will want you to sign up to.

    Firstly, welcome to boards.
Supposedly, if you contact Vodafone and act dumb and tell them you want to change to an iPhone, when they inform you that they currently don't offer it, tell them you'll have to move to O2 so, and they'll become very helpful, trying to retain your custom. There was news about this a month or two ago, not sure if it is still happening.

Ha ! did just that ............. said I was going to O2 (which I still might do ) they offered me a 16G iphone for €199 and sign up for 18 months with perfect choice 150. He said the offer when they launch might not be as good ............... you know I think he might be fibbing !

Really? They've finally announced it? What's your source? I hope it flops for them after all the mix up surrounding the release date, people should be holding off for the 4th gen due to be released this summer!

They are allready out from Vodafone. I got mine on Monday delivered by courier. I had registered on the website last month allright. 18 month contract, phone was free. €65 p month, 300 mins of calls and 300 texts. Not sure about the internet usage allowance. They were trying to charge me €129 for the phone but I had been told I was entitled to a free one so I stuck my heels in and got it. Its a 16gb 3gs black one.
Takes a lot of getting used to.

I was offered the same before Christmas after registering my interest, it's through a third party company though, IOS. Well the offer I got was anyway, they still haven't sorted out their official tariffs and it hasn't been officially launched yet.

Oh ok, had just presumed it was from Vodafone. Don't like the terrible battery for a start anyway. Doesn't even last a day. Can't see myself keeping it.

Can't understand how anyone could offer €450 for one of these. It's terrible to be honest. Yesterday I was outdoors all day and the battery went in the pub in the evening. Before it went, I had a few messages and it was like I was taking out a flat screen tv to look at them. Everyone in thr company has to have a look because of the glary screen on it. I mean you cant be any way discreet with it unless you go to the corner of the room and do your messaging.
Then when your hands are dirty you are cautious about touching the screen in case you might scratch it.
It's suited for people that are planted on their arses all day and don't ever get dirty hands with a charger beside them. Simple as that.

Of all the reasons not to get a phone, these must be up with the most ridiculous. Are your friends 8 years of age that they have to gawp at shiny things? Every heard of a screen protector? Why not just sell it to justindublin if you are so unhappy with it.

How can people think that they are getting an iphone for "free" when they are paying €65.00 a month over 18 months? This means that the total cost is €1170.00.

    Considering some options.

    A) If you were to pay €129.00 for the iphone - then pay €40.00 for 18 months it works out at €849.00.

    B) If you were to pay €200.00 for the iphone - then pay €50.00 for 18 months it works out at €1100.00.

It appears that it is cheaper to pay for the iphone. Although you may get more mins/texts/data etc with the €65.00 per month deal the likelyhood is that most people wont use all the package has to offer. Therefore you are actually paying more for something that you aren't using? Moreover, far from getting the iphone for free you are actually paying for it.

It seems that if you compare the "€65.00 per month - free iphone" option with option (A) you actually incur a chrage of €321.00 for the iphone itself. Which is hardly free.
Similarly if you compare it to option (B) you incur a charge of €70.00 for the iphone.

You could tweek the figures upwards in option A and B and you would still get the same results. The iphone at €65.00 per month is not free.

Methinks you're making grand assumptions that nobody uses their phones that much. Or have little faith in people and think they won't do those same basic sums you did. :pac:

You just don't understand. Over the last number of years I have been paying €70 - €100 per month on bills. €65 is less than that so it's a free phone as far as I'm concerned. The kids are playing games on it at the moment. At least it's good for something!

No, never heard of a screen protector. Whats it? Does it cover the screen so nobody can see it? Must get one if so.
    Thanks for the info.

Utter gash! Seriously don't know what you have going on with your phone there brother, but my iPhone 3GS lasts for a FULL business day - including calls, push email, text messaging etc.
I'm not at all cautious about touching the screen with dirty hands... on my original iphone i never had a screen protector, and not one scratch, from dirty hands nor from being in my pocket with loose change or car keys at times.

Why don't you just offer it to that guy on Adverts for the €450 if you dislike it that much...
