My main reason for jailbreaking is to open up the iPhone O.S so I can run non-Apple apps and interface mods .
Apart from Apples closed architecture there is a whole different world of apps and improvements in the jailbreaking community , some of which when you use , you will ask "Why doesnt Apple have this standard ?"

As i said there is a whole different world in the jailbreaking community with lots of developers writing some cool stuff , stuff you wont find on iTunes due to Apples nonsensical rules , and strict policy on Themes and Interface modding etc

There are many extra apps you can only get with a jailbroken phone, allowing you to do things like change your SMS tone, add themes etc.

There are no real downsides and it's entirely reversable.

Dont try an jailbreak until you have done your homework ..

    What Phone type ?

Just for starters ....read up , then when confident go for it .
