Specialised UK Importers v Buying in UK

    I'm wondering is there much of a difference between buying from 'Garages' in Ireland who import cars from UK to see them on and buying from the UK personally?

    The garages want to maximize profit, so they wouldn't go for the best ones I'd imagine.

    Buy direct yourself, I priced a couple of Audi A3s with garages who had them still on Uk plates, and they wanted €8000 or more for them on uk plates & over €12,000 on Irish.

    Priced the same car up north, done the vrt calculator on it and the car only comes to about 5,500 for a 04 car

    :eek:. Thats a big difference. I expected 800-1000. I guess its buy direct so. Cheers

    I know, there was me thinkin we'd be holding off on a newer car for a couple of years, then it just dawned on me "hang on am comparing prices here summit isn't right"

    I was bloody mortified, when I saw to get the same cars up the north and pay the VRT it's still half the price of the garages here. One word COWBOYS!!!!!
