hydraulic test on septic tank

We are seeing recent FIs come in with a request for a hydraulic test to be carried out on existing septic tanks to show any water leakage.

Does anyone know what these tests are?
Is there a standard or code to be complied with? as in pressure rates etc?

    thanks in advance

I imagine they want soak tests done on the soils immediately surrounding the tank to gauge saturation levels.

thanks tom, i suppose thats one way of looking at it.

they do ask for tests to be carried on on the tank itself however.
