If your buying one, you gotta get the uw version for sampling, adds so much more to it,i have one and i am very happy with it but definitely wouldn't buy the non uw version. Its easy to use and great for coming up with innovative sounds, but its non analogue which im sure you know and it is a million miles away from analogue, i am currently eyeing up an acidlab miami. Autechre use the machinedrum and monomachine a lot so that gives you an idea of what its capable off

yeah the sounds are on it but the beauty of the uw version is you can import your own sounds too!

AVA if you're more comfortable with hardware and you can find one going cheap, get one.

I think they're probably useless in the hands of a plugins/softsynth guy

thats bit of a bizarre opinion? Its one of the easier pieces of kit to use and ideal for a soft synth junkie! they will finally start to be enlightened

You're right. But I'm always surprised how people who have no problem with a soft synth have so much trouble when it comes to a piece of hardware.

Actually I'll give it one real major advantage over the softh synth

If you put up a video on you tube of you playing the Elecktron - and it's good you'll get thousands of views. People rarely tune in to set a guy messy about with a mouse.
