Got an email and a call from a publisher in the UK there regarding the use of some photos I have...

"Would you be able to send them to us hi res please if possible today? At this stage we are test launching the first 5 issues of the partwork in one UK tv region. Eventually if the launch is successful we will be needing World rights all languages excluding the USA. We normally negotiate a fee for the full rights with the clause that we pay 50% up front for the test and if it is successful we pay the remaining 50%. We also offer 50% of the agreed fee for the second use of the same picture.

I would like to suggest a fee of £60 per image for use inside the magazine and £100 on the cover whatever size they are used. This would mean £30 and £50 for the test launch."

I'm going to call her back now in a minute, isn't £60 very cheap for full rights worldwide?

£60?? Is this a 2" image on the back of some page, hidden beside loads of ads?

Surely they're missing a 0 from the figure?

    That's what I'm thinking!

They're photos I've already taken and didn't intend to sell so for a single use it's money for nothing, but for full rights worldwide it's taking the p!ss a bit!

As PaulW says they are missing a zero or possibly two.

A pishtake for sure at the fee they are quoting, which would not be bad for single use in a minor Irish trade mag for an image in your keeper file.
