    Howdy all,

I live in an older aparment complex in the city centre and we are looking at getting a CCTV system in. Have been a few break-ins, bike thefts and damage to cars in recent months.
We have had a few CCTV companies come and quote but the main problem is the old apartment block doesn't have wiring in place - for either power or the data.

We want to get cameras at the main entrance to the estate, a couple in the undergorund car park and then one at each block entrance.

Have been told that CCTV cameras should not be powered from nearby lights (can't remember the reason why) and that 'wireless' cameras are problematic - especially for us in that the data storage area will be well in to the underground car park.

So... I am trying to find out who does the job of laying all the wiring which will involve some serious 'construction' in that to get the wiring from above ground into the underground car park there will have to most likely be some chasing into the tarmac and trunking mounted on external walls.

Anyone have any ideas or dealt with a similar problem???

    Thanks
    Jamo
