Eircom PhoneWatch Again!!

My father just got an eircom phone watch alarm fitted. The house is a single store with many extensions over the years. The installer just put one internal noise bomb near the front door. Father, eats, sleeps and lives in the extension on the extension!! That’s OK says you, but when he gets home he turns on the alarm, he then heads out to the extension to cook his dinner, forgets he has the alarm on and opens a window while cooking. He is oblivious to the fact that the alarm is going off, until I ring him on the mobile, having been contacted by the alarm company. Eircom, said they want the guts of €200 to fit an extra noise bomb, I said that this should have been dealt with the initial assessment. Now they tell me that the unit will not take an extra noise bomb (if that’s the correct term). Are they right? The alarm was fitted about a month ago. Help!

    It should handle another internal.
    What system is it?
If they insist tell them to move the existing one or you will stop paying your monitoring. That should get them moving

Eircom are terrible at installing alarms. They seem to throw them in any way at all. It's all about getting as many alarms in as possible and quality goes out the window.
In contrast a local smaller company is only as good as their last job so will more often than not do it properly.

    Hi cord,

They can put a hard wired internal siren onto the simon xt. It is connected to the HW1 I/O and HW2 terminals. It is dual purpose and can be used for either siren or hardwired contact connections. €200 is way over the top for the extra fitting of this but that is eircom, I would not say you got the external bell installed off them either at the price of €260.
You are right in saying if they had done the survey correctly in the first place then this would of being dealt with. I would get on to then again about this.
Another thing you could do is turn the volume up on the panel, it is in the siren options.

Unless your dad father asked for one it is more than likely a dummy bell box. You will know if it is by the flashing lights..
Let us know how you get on with regards the internal bell..
