Caught this film last night and have to say I thought it was brilliant.

The story follows the typical story of a washed up musician who is stuck in a rut but finds new meaning in his life after meeting a woman and things start to take a positive turn for him.
    However,
as the clíched story mould goes, he ****s it up for some reason or another (in this case, his alcoholism) which sends him into a deeper rut, and as a consequence, forces him to get his act together.

The story bares a resemblence to Walk The Line and while most of the stories points are predictable, the movie was very enjoyable and great performances by everyone, including Colin Farrell, really kept the movie interesting.
Also, the songs written for the movie were quite good too, but the writers didn't allow the music to overwhelm the story, like it did in say...Walk The Line.

Bridges performance deserves special mention, and was much needed after The Men Who Stare At Goats.

Has anybody else seen it yet?

Saw it on Friday. Very enjoyable. Bridges was his usual brilliant self, Maggie Gyllenhall is great too. And hands up all those who knew Colin Farrell could sing ;o) Soundtrack is really good and I wouldnt normally be a fan of C&W. As I said before Bridges will win the Best Actor Oscar but IMO Colin Firth should win for A Single Man.

Yea? Well now there is a new one grumpy :p

Crazy heart was excellent. One of the best films I have seen this year.. It was a little cliched in parts I agree, but the excellent acting, music, and overall vibe of the film more than compesates for it.

Bridges should get the nod at the oscars for this one. Great stuff.

The songs were brilliant in my opinion, I haven't stopped listening to Fallin and Flyin, Bridges and Farrel can be proud of themselves. I knew Colin auditioned for Boyzone and all but jaysus who knew he could actually sing. :pac:

The acting was great but as for the story itself, it was good, but I preferred last years epic The Wrestler in its' depiction of a washed up star long forgotten by his business.

Ryan Bingham - I don't is on repeat for me as well lol. His live version of the weary kind is also very good.

Really looking forward to this movie. I've heard nothing but good things about it, and I'm a big fan of Jeff Bridges.

Anyone else notice how like Kris Kristofferson he looks in this part??

I think Kristofferson was one of the influences....

Saw this last night, and I loved Bridges in the lead. Its a great movie.
And Colin Farrell....! He impressed me for the first time in a long time.:)

I saw this tonight. Really enjoyed it, so mellow yet touching and the soundtrack was great. I've downloaded it and can't stop playing the theme track.

I didn't know Colin Farrell was in it, so the anticipation of unveiling the Tommy mystery was real for me. Wasn't keen on him, but he made Tommy seem like a good guy.

Have to say I was very emotionally involved in the film, and got all choked up at the end as it's bittersweet. Didn't know whether to be crying for happiness or sadness when the credits rolled. Probably just because The Weary Kind is such a beautiful song.

Superb - it got to the end just at the right time.
    Went away very satisfied.
Agreed - a little cliched but differs from walk the line in that we can only guess at how big a star Bad must have been in his heyday.
Colin Farrell does his character justice and continues to impress.
    That's my tupence y'all! :)

Excellent film, Bridges as always fantastic and Colin Farrell -what can I say, this actor not afraid to take a small role and still shines in it ..

    9/10...

Bridges is excellent in it. A brilliant actor that somehow seems to go under the radar for a lot of people.

Am really looking forward to him in True Grit when it gets released over here early next year.

Liked this one a lot but had The Wrestler in the back of my mind while watching it (as it was meant to that type of defining role again) and doesn't compare at all to it (in my opinion) but good none the less!

    6/10

When I was sitting in the cinema, I suddenly remembered the Wrestler comparison and that distracted me for the rest of the running time :P It seriously is The Wrestler with a country singer, although ultimately feels a little less pessimistic than Aronofsky's film. I'd say this possibly makes it less memorable. Both feature fantastic lead performances, but Aronofsky's storytelling and direction is more compelling.

Both, strangely, have unusually good theme songs. If I was to pick though, I'd choose Springsteen over the Crazy Heart OST. So I'd consider the music in the Wrestler superior too :pac:

The Wrestler was my favourite movie last year so it was always going to be hard to live up to! So far The Road is my fav this year, although I have high hopes for Toy Story 3 and Inception!

Had typed up something typed up there but lost it...

Basically went like this: The Wrestler way overrated, dodgy daughter story, good two lead performances, an ending that probably isn't as good as people think, predictable load of meh, 6/10, 6 of the marks going to Tomei.

Crazy Heart has Bridges, has The Weary Kind, has more HEART, dodgy and out of place performance from Farrell, more memorable than the above, 7/10.

This was on Film 4 last night. Always a good watch. Bridges was on top form with this one IMO.

Brilliant film. Bridges always seems at his best when he's downtrodden.
It's a shame they didn't give more time to all the original music they recorded for the movie.

Good acting. Wasn't so keen on the movie itself. 5/10 maybe.

Agree on the music. I enjoyed Ryan Bingham's contribution. He has some good stuff out there if you have a look.

I did have a look, I bought the soundtrack. Though it hardly feels like a soundtrack considering all the original songs.
Well worth a purchase, especially now when you could get it on the cheap.
