Weekend to Amsterdam

so me and 2 friends are going to amsterdam on 5th march from friday til monday, going for a few nights of non sleep clubbing like u do when your young:Dobviously spending all day in the "coffee shops";) and some time in the RLD:pac: but also the niteclubs...would be really interested in hearing peoples review of the place(from a young clubbers view) and storys of what shenanigans you got up to and what not:Dim sure ill have loads to say when or if i come home alive:pac:anyways would be interesting to hear anyhting about amsterdam(i read all about it but want personal reviews etc)

well , i live here and i'm 22 and do alot of clubbing myself . you should check out studio 80 on rembrantplein for minimal techno (my favorite club)
also melkweg , club trauw , club home, escape(very touristy one) and panama usually have some house/techno/electro on at the weekends, on the weekend you arrive, the 5 days off festival is on, featuring groove armada and many more but the real dj everybody is going to see is paul kalkbrenner in the melkweg on the 7th, its going to be a cracking one.

advice about amsterdam : if you plan to go clubbing , don't smoke too much weed that day as i've seen so many friends come to visit and so excited about going out everynight but they end up falling asleep at 10 or 11! the marajuana here is so different to what you get in ireland, it really hits you hard!

nice venue to chill where its relaxing and cozy is the ''lost lounge'' its on harlemmerstraat, close enough to the centre , definatly a gem i found in the city.
lots of nice bars to drink everywhere , if your staying in a hostel, stay in the flying pig or bobs youth hostel, quality places and you'll meet alot of cool people!


and i'd like to share some stories but there is too many to be honest, the cool/random/amazing experiences in amsterdam are unreal!

any kinda music in the club is ok as long as its a mixture of dance, hip hop etc but would prefare the usual chart music/dance/hip hop clubs..we dont even smoke but wana spend all day smoking the hash:pac:but your probably right about falling asleep, if we got high during the day and didnt smoke any more past abour 3-4pm would we be ok for the clubbing?in a few days ill take a list of them clubs and where they are:Dlooking forward to seeing the amsterdam arena:)...im almost certain were staying in a scabby hotel on "dam square"

p.s if your irish(dublin) does the accent get u ladys like it does in england lol?

dude if you find it basjoes is the best coffieshop for cheep top draw weed and hash,,james who runs the shop loves us irish and speeks a bit to not bad for a jamican,,it dosin look like a classy place but the smoke is ,, dont be seen putting tocboo in your joints cuz smoking is banned ,leve your fag box in your pocket and they will be cool,but only in some places if seen will be asked to smoke your joint out side,,no talkin on the fone take your call outside ,and ask before you start taking snaps to,,coffee shops rules,,,,o grasshoper is very deer with pissy weed ,baranys is a joke to deer,,ricks cafe is nice spot ,5 ways haze is class. the greenhouse right across the canal and their menu is a dear but nice,,lads selling e and coke on the street will ask you do want,dont stop keep goig dont even talk or look at them,,they wont bother you,,dont bring loads of money if your head of to the hookers 50 euro will do even 40 euro,,,,its realy a nice city,as for clubs not to sure esp is the only 1 iv been in that i can remember the name lol

cheers man ill deinfly go over your tipsand write them down before we go:Di heard barnys is good but u live their so ill trust u!..yep been also told to not even talk to the drug dealers, not into E and stuff so wel be grand:)...ill be tempted but ill bring just a 50 note when visiting the RLD:pac::pac:..the clubs im sure wel visit alot anyways...cheers again im dying to go now lol:cool:

go away from the centrum, the further out you go the nicer and cheaper the weed and hash gets

1 more question guys...

before we enter a coffeeshop what do we need to bring and what will they provide for us inside (besides the hash of course:P)


do we need our own lighters,grinders, skins? anything i left out?...and oh yes money:pac:

You can buy skins (and presumably lighters too) in most coffee shops, but seems to make more sense to just bring your own.

Also it's worth noting that some coffeeshops have special indoor areas where you can smoke tobacco.

bud is my favourite:(...ill give amstel a try while walking by the river amstel lol.....ye we got the trip for 230 each thats everything except spending money and transport from airport but were gona get a cheap train to cental station:D

last question people i promsie lol....

just say a few grams of hash/weed/spacecakes decided to fall into my bag in the airport will that be a problem?..do they search you?pick young people like me out at random to search?...or will we be grand?

Eh don't do it...seriously. It may be fine sometimes but I have seen people being searched all the time and there may well be sniffer dogs too. Honestly not worth the hassle.

good point lol but what if we had 5 grams each...since its "tolerated" in holland and we will still be in holland if they search us what can they do besides put it in the bin or can they do something?if they cant then il trying it:D

I've been in amsterdam 5 or 6 times. i've seen the search and sniffer dog routine at schiphol airport - I didn't have any drugs on me so no worries, but they still check. At that point you're going past the point of personal use, you're knowingly trying to take it out of the country to a country where it is illegal.... is it really worth it? do you honestly think you're the first person who's thought of this? Or maybe you would enjoy the cavity search?

Not to mention the sniffer dogs who went through the line of passengers who came off the plane at dublin airport the last time I came in from amsterdam... now that would be a whole lot worse I think

dude bring a small home,,4 or 5 grams max if they catch you they will justtake it off you,but just a small bit no more

My mate was goimg home from a trip there before and he had a pre-rolled pure weed joint, a small bag of weed (€12 bag, whatever that is) 2 space cakes and a hallounicenic catus, all in a Baba's bag! Nothing was said to him.

I'd be a rubbish drug trafficker, I was going up to security and found 1 pre rolled joint in my pocket and binned it! Not worth it!

They didn't catch either, I just found it just before security, chickened out and binned it! I always find it difficult to get change in amsterdam airport. The train ticket machines never accept my credit and lazer card and don't take notes. Think it costs about €4.50 for a train ticket to central station, so bring some change for the ticket machine!

As for what to try, ask the guys in the coffee shop for advice, usually they're fairly sound. Don't get something mad strong first, have something mid strenght to see how you get on. I never bothered with space cakes.

Hey Marko, you seem very exicted about your trip to Dam - and you should be, you will have a great time. Just be wide, its a great city with lot's to do (outside of the usual). It is a generaly a very safe place to be but you need to have a small bit of awarness about you too. Just don't get off your head and float around the place oblivious to whats going on around you, the few dodgy locals there are see people like this everyday and will have a go. Don't get spilt up from your buddies either late at night - that is the number one stupid thing to do in Dam. Anyway have a good time bud.

Going to Amsterdam tomorrow for the first time and havent smoked hash or weed before but the girls Im going with have. Any advice on what I should go for and stay clear from cos I really dont wanna be sick or anything from taking something too strong!

maybe you should just ask in the coffeeshops..they will put you right.just tell em lite weed your a first timer.remember if you get 2 high fizzy drinks or sweets can bring you down.ps stay away from drugs.just have a smoke

My advice is if anyone rolls a joint, or you buy a pre rolled one just have one decent drag, hold it in about 5-6 seconds and give it about 20 minutes to see if you like the effects and want another drag. Any hash cakes take ages to kick in, I wouldn't advise them. Stick to the smoke, it's easier to control how stoned you get!

the prerolled joints are useless did next to nothing for me!..yep the space cakes take bout a horu and a half to kick in for me...had one last night i did:D
