Sky + feature gone on my box

The sky+ feature has stopped over the weekend, 2 calls to Sky have not resolved the issue ( a sky+ planner rebuild and then a full system reset). The box behaves as a normal viewing box, I just can't record, rewind or access my recorded programs.

Sky want €100 to send an engineer who may just end up replacing the box. Is this my only option?

Or should I pay for a HD box without the sub as I have seen on another post here?

Best bet is to cancel your subscription and sign up for the hd box under your

    partners name

have you taken out the card and reinstalled it ,?
they should just send a signal to the box, and have it back up while you are on the phone.

@ bigtimecharlie :- I remember reading on some forums (may have been boards) that the problem your having could be related to a hard drive failure in the box.

Is there any extra noise coming from the box , clicking noises and such ? If so I'd say your hard drive has failed.

If are unable to source a new box from Sky via the methods described by collegegal or bryaner you could always try ebay or adverts.ie in the electronic section for a 2nd hand one, it will be cheaper than the current option given to you by Sky.

If you get a replacement box you'll have to re-pare your current viewing card with the box by ringing Sky technical help.

make sure there is nothing (like a magazine) ontop of the box itself. It could be overheating the box....
