Hi everyone, I was looking at a S&W 617 6 shot revolver this weekend. It was going for 700 quid. I found it unbelievably comfortable to hold and the trigger was amazing light. I was also won over by the smashing looks of the gun:cool:.

Has anyone any experience of these or any opinions you would like to share?
I'm seriously considering putting a deposit on it even though I just paid off my new 308:D.

    Thanks

We have been using a 617 as a club gun for years. Great revolver in my opinion, easy to shoot, clean and maintain. Accurate and as reliable as any other gun you care to mention.

If you're really interested in shooting a revolver you could do a lot worse, oh and best of all its on the fabled list so licensing it should be "relatively" hassle free :D

I had one of these, and liked it loads, but would have to disagree on the cleaning - found it a dog to clean.

Thanks fellas, thats what I was hoping to hear. Its second hand but like new, I thought 700 was a fair price for it given the condition.
What amade it difficult to clean? Did you have the ten shot model? Have heard they can be a bit of a nuisance alright.

Anyone any opinions on a revolver versus a pistol?
