I am due to fly long haul with BA in middle of march.

If BA go on strike where do I stand.

I have travel insurance already but I don't think it covers strikes like most travel insurance. Need to get out the T&C out.

The flights are booked through a travel agent so would it be up to them to fix me up if BA call a strike of the day I am travelling or else is it just sit and wait until BA put me on the next available flight.

    Thanks in advance

It's up to BA to put you on another flight. They're usually pretty good at looking after passengers in the event of industrial action.

FYI Lufthansa are probably going to be hit by a pilot strike this week...

Hi, I work for British Airways and appreciate there are a lot of BA-related travel questions at the moment, given the potential strike by cabin crew. I just wanted to pass on the link to our page which has the most up to date and reliable travel information about how possible industrial action could affect your travel plans (http://www.ba.com/strike). If I hear of any updates I will try to flag it up on this forum.

Link seems to redirect to the BA homepage. Follow the link to the UK site and you'll be taken to the page with a message re the strike.

I'm due to fly with BA long-haul in the next 2 weeks or so, so the strike dates could pretty much mess up my plans. I'm booked through Expedia as well so I don't really know what happens if BA cancel/delay my flights. If they delay my outbound flight by 2 days, there's no point me going at all as I will miss the thing I'm going to.

Expedia did say something about me being refunded the tax on my flights which ironically is more than 50% of what I paid as I booked so early and got a good deal.

Interestingly there was an article on the Beeb about this

If you purchased your flight/insurance BEFORE 8th Jan then you should be ok to claim , after that date , possible issues

Unite, the trade union that represents the majority of British Airways (BA) cabin crew, has announced its intention to take strike action between 20-22 March and 27-30 March 2010. At the moment all of our flights are continuing to operate as normal. If a strike does go ahead we are intending to operate a range of flights so that not all our flights will be cancelled.
We are currently finalising our flight schedules for the strike period and have temporarily stopped selling seats on all flights operating on the strike dates. We will finalise these schedules in the next few days and further information will be sent to you as soon as it is available.
At the moment we can confirm that the following routes will be unaffected by a strike:
All longhaul flights from Gatwick and 50% of shorthaul flights from Gatwick
    All flights from London City
Substantial proportion of longhaul programme from Heathrow and good number of shorthaul flights (schedule tba shortly)

    Commercial Policy
Until we finalise our flying schedule, customers travelling between 19 March and 31 March who wish to change their travel plans can :-
Rebook to travel on another BA flight on the same route up to 355 days in the future at no extra charge, subject to availability.
Cancel the booking and obtain a refund to the original form of payment

    Regards,

    British Airways.

My flight has been cancelled and was due out on the Sunday. Doesn't fly until the following Wednesday.

Where do I stand does anyone know.

I booked through a travel agent?

Contact the travel agent. They can arrange rebooking or a refund

Are you going to Cape Town Trampas? If so, they are operating the late flight (21.50) on Saturday and Monday (assuming it's this week you are going?), so you should definitely get on to your travel agent asap and try to switch.

BA allow free switches or cancellations with full refunds if your flight is affected by the strike.
