I raed a summary of it and it was positively bonkers! Perhaps a good idea for an over teh top 300 style film, but certainly not a follow up to a classic like Gladiator which while sperctacular, is still fairly grounded in reality.

    Reality?

I understand it was quite the work of fiction.

So is this actually supposed to be a real script or just the ramblings of a mad man?

I think he means the world its played out in, not that its fact,

If they introduce Gods, Re-Incarnation and such, then why not just give him magic powers like time travel and fire breathing abilities, it sounds to far fetched from the original,
That said I'll watch it regardless given my high regard for the original

There were a number of things in Gladiator that brought it out of historical fiction and into mythical fiction. The most prominent was the Elysian Fields: Maximus envisioning roaming the fields, only to wind up there at the climax.

In similar fashion, he sees and hears things that are going to happen in the future, just as he awakens as a slave. Phrases and visions all combined in some future-destiny combo.

Still I do agree involving Gods is taking it to another level.

It would make an entertaining film.

    I really hated Gladiator.
Found it to be very much up it's own hole.

In my opinion Nick Cave can do no wrong so I say bring it on.

+1. He also did the screenplay for 'The Proposition' which is an outstanding film. Bring it on indeed!

Sounds terrible but after loving Gladiator I'll have to see any sequel made hopefully it won't be a complete disaster

Funny this film is now on Sky... Watched it again since this release of the script and there is slight mention of the Gods and what the Gods have in store and destiny and all that usual malark. But that said to actually then use them in a film would make it bomb big time!! maybe if it was more cat and mouse games between Maximus and the Gods for him to earn the right to see them but not... ach I dunnno even that sounds bonkers!
