24p is 24 frames per second progressive, film mode http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/24p

the 1024x768 resolution, means the pixels are rectangular not square, but other than the slightly fewer pixels it's the same as any other display

I know what both are :)

I just don't think I have see the two paired together. I have only seen it paired with 1080p screens.

24p seems to be the standard now. My LCD is 720p and accepts 24fps.

    hmmm interesting.

Would it be safe to assume that the panel is 1366 x 768?

No, its definitely 1024 x 768, its the res HD ready 42" plasma's are. As such this makes them even less than HD ready(Although officially they still are) because they have less pixels than 1280 x 720 or 720p. The pixels would be rectangular on this set see, not a great bargain seeing as the shipping is so dear. Would make a grand set for just SD viewing but i wouldnt get it if you're planning on gettin Sky HD, it would be wasted on this IMO.

BTW, this same "bargain alert" was posted a few days ago :)

The 24p is to do with frames per second, so resolution isn't a factor for this mode. Also have 720p display with this mode

This TV has the "HD TV" logo, TV's with this have an integrated HD tuner. As per the "HD TV" spec these TVs have to meet the "HD Ready" spec.

So TV meets "HD Ready" standard, which just requires the tv to have resolution of at least 720 vertical lines in widescreen ratio.

Resolution is a bit low for this size screen, but from a few feet back should still look very good
