I find it rather unusual i havent seen mention of this on the forum.

Downloaded the demo from the PSN the other day and i absolutely love it, I havent enjoyed a kart game so much in years, its up there with my favourites- original Mariokart, Speedfreaks, Crash Racing. Absolutely love it, the weapons are well balanced, its got great characters and the one track on the demo is brilliant. Having said that there are a lot of tracks around the 20 mark, plenty of characters too.

I must be alone with this opinion. I was going to order the PS3 version for my godson anyway but i think ill have to preorder another one for my own too. :D:D
Really very surprised at the quality.

I like it too. This demo races better than the Mod Nation Racers beta

I totally agree with that, was rather dissapointed about Modnation. Although im not writing it off, who knows how early that beta build was. Wouldnt be a first if a rather old one was released for testing.

The superstar weapons in Sonic Racing are brilliant, especially love the sonic one.

I played the demo today and I enjoyed it. I was hoping for something like Mario Kart Wii and it is exactly what I got. It is not quite as good as the Mario racer but it was a pleasant surprise.

Pity there was only one track in the demo.

Had absolutely no interest in it until I heard it's by Sumo - the same people behind the brilliant Outrun 2. Downloaded the demo and it's great, I'll definately be picking it up.

Really loving this game, have it on the PC though.

The PC version is like a game from a parallel dimension. They've left in the splitscreen support (which I've rarely, if ever, seen in a PC title) and completely removed the online/LAN functionality

Plays great though. The soundtrack is excellent as usual and the colors and handling are definitely inspired by Outrun.

I actually love the commentator also, he's hilarious :D

This looks good but Mario is still the King of Kart Racers and I have too much in my backlog to be interested in another.

    Meh. It's no Madagascar Kartz.

Im absolutely loving it, delighted i bought it. Have been distracted by BF Bad Company 2 but its getting lots of multiplayer attention.
Too many good games out lately :(

Does it have any rubberbanding?...the wii version of Mario Kart is awful, the rubber banding is so obvious. Also, I read there was some collision detection problems....did you encounter anything like that? I downloaded the demo and it has pricked my interest.

You can disable catchup. But the all-star moves will pretty much make up for any advantage you may gain from disabling rubberbanding, as they give whoever is in last place a special move that allows them to pretty much get back up into the top 4 easily.

I'll usually hold back to get the all star move early on then try and work my way back up through the pack, then on the final lap use the All-Star move to get back into first place.

Some tips in case people don't already know (they work on the PC, I assume they are the same on the console)

    1. From the starting line, hold accelerate down after the announcer finishes saying "3", and you should boost off the line (seems to vary marginally between characters afaik)
    2. When you hit a jump, press and release drift to perform a move, the more times you repeat this move in the air the longer your boost when you land. Be sure to not get greedy, if you try to perform a move and it doesn't complete before you land you will lose all your boost.
    3. Watch the exhaust flames when drifting, when they turn Red, release and use your boost. You can't get any more boost after they've turned Red so it's pointless to continue drifting, it's better to use the boost then starting drifting again to recharge it.
